Local area standards are the wages, fringe benefits and economic conditions of the local area that make it possible for families to succeed and the local community to grow.
Local Area Standards include:
- Health insurance and pension or equivalent compensation
- Properly classifying workers as employees, insuring that the employer pays his/her payroll taxes, workers compensation insurance, unemployment insurance and does not pass these costs on to their employees
- Payment of overtime in a day and premium time for holiday and weekend work
- Company provided power tools and safety equipment; non area standard (non-complying) employers will shift these costs of doing business to the employee
Area Standards are how we provide for our families, our careers, and our future.
